Why does that matter? A newspaper report from 1893 offers the answer:

“Chas. W. Fisher has taken charge at the Elephant Pavilion and he has introduced many innovations to attract the people to that place.” —Atlantic City Sunday Press, The Sunday Gazette, June 4, 1893.
